Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,
What are they doing to the Brimhall Building (by Maeser Building) and why is it taking so long?
- Max Klinger

A: Dear Max Klinger,
The University is currently renovating the Brimhall Building (and believe me, it needed it). BYU is constantly trying to renovate or replace all of the old buildings on campus. In the case of the Brimhall Building, someone decided that it was old enough/historic enough that it should be renovated rather than torn down. Besides renovations just taking a long time in general, one of the reasons the Brimhall Building is taking so long is asbestos abatement. OSHA has developed a very strict set of rules for removing asbestos, so the process can be quite time consuming.
