Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

Is the Salt Lake Temple up to seismic code? Or is the Church just not worried about it that much?

A: Dear tidbit,

No, it's not. And they really don't have any plans to do it, either. When Presiding Bishop H. David Burton was asked if the Temple was going to be seismically retrofitted along with the tabernacle he answered:

"The church doesn't anticipate a seismic renovation of the temple. I hate to even think about that, frankly." (http://www.sltrib.com/utah/ci_2421263)

So it's not that they aren't worried, it's just that they (or at least H. David Burton) don't really like to think about it.

A: Dear tidbit,
I can't think of a better building to be crushed alive inside of.
