Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

What's the best way to pop the BIG question?

- Looking for something original

A: Dear Looking,
First of all, DON'T DO SOMETHING STUPID!! People around here are bad enough about asking other people on dates. Here's an astounding revelation: how you ask isn't as important as what you're asking her to do! Okay, that may sound unsentimental, but dropping out of an airplane with a ring really isn't very romantic either. If you want my opinion, do something that will be meaningful to you two, but keep it relatively low key. Proposals can get pretty foolish. A friend of mine asked me to help him propose to his girlfriend last year. He wanted to take her on a romantic walk and then whip out the ring. But he wanted me to come by just then and "pretend" to steal it from him, so he could chase after me and "pretend" to beat the living daylights out of me and get the ring back. His reason for the plan was that he had never heard of anyone doing it before. Needless to say, I told him to go soak his head. But the moral of the story is, original isn't always best. Do what you will both appreciate and get on with the plans.
