Dear 100 Hour Board,

The book of Abraham is a translation of some ancient records written on papyrus discovered from the catacombs of Egypt that had fallen into the hands of Joseph Smith. My question is: What happened to the original papyrus manuscript? Does the Church still possess it?

A: Dear Zom,

The ancient records stayed with Emma and the rest of the Smith family. They were eventually sold and were passed around for about fifty years until they ended up an a museum in Chicago. There was a fire and only bits and pieces of the manuscript were saved.
