Dear 100 Hour Board,

When we go to heaven will we shave or will we just have to be hairy?

A: Dear BEG:

Umm, I guess it depends on what parts you are thinking of shaving. The only scriptural commentary on the subject is "there shall not so much as a hair of their heads be lost" (Alma 11:44, Alma 40:23, D&C 9:14), and it seems to be that in the last days, having the head, beard, and feet shaven is a shame (Isa. 7:20, 2 Ne. 17:20). Really, the idea of shaving off all (or most) body hair is a cultural perception pervasive only in the United States, and even then only in the last 100 years or so (since the invention of cheap safety razors). Most people, men or women, don't shave themselves like Americans do. So I bet that of the five types of people you meet in heaven, all of them are going to be gloriously hairy beasts.
