Dear 100 Hour Board,

How much force does it take, concentrated in one specific area, to crack a standard car windshield?

- Windshield

A: Dear Windshield Supporter,
It varies from windshield to windshield. Different companies manufacture them, and all have their own specifications. It doesn't take a whole lot to crack one. A tiny pebble falling off the back of a truck on the freeway can crack them!!! (It happened to me last week). To break through them is significantly more difficult. I used to work in a junkyard, and we'd smash out all the windows on old cars for fun on our breaks. You can take a huge crow bar, and throw it like a javelin at a windshield, and it won't penetrate it. It will shatter, but it won't let anything through. And man, it's a lot of fun.
