A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. - James Dent

Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

I'm a voracious reader and I need help. Alas, I am taking my chances by bringing my query here because it makes the assumption that one of you has preferences similar to mine in the area of fiction. Nonetheless, I shall ask.

Some of my favourite fantasy authors are (in no particular order): Melanie Rawn, Piers Anthony, Mercedes Lackey, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anne McCaffrey, Douglass Adams, Orson Scott Card, and Robert Jordan. Unfortunately, I have read all of their novels. Well, I did't read the Avalon books because I didn't like 'em. Do you have any recommendations?

A: Rincewynd--

Don't like David Eddings? He's really funny, even if he breaks the mold a bit.

Jacqueline Carey's "Kushiel's Dart" and the sequels.

Terry Brooks.

Those should tide you over a for a year at least, and by that time all the other authors will have new stuff.

A: Dear Rincewynd,

Admittedly, I've not read all of the authors on your list. Card, Jordan, Bradley, and Adams, yes. I don't know how qualified that makes my opinion. At any rate, I enjoyed Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen by Tamora Pierce.

A: Dear Rincewind-

Try David Weber.
