Dear 100 Hour Board,

Let's say there's a man who has raped several women and wants to join the church. Can he? If so, can he ever marry in the temple?

- just wondering

A: Dear jw:

Yes, as long as he has fulfilled his legal punishment (prison sentence, probation, and whatever else) and sincerely repented of his sins. Given full repentance, there are no restrictions on the blessings for which he is worthy.

That said, it's definitely not going to be easy. The repentance is hard in and of itself, and it would take a very Christlike woman to marry him.

He will need to be interviewed by the mission president, who may also request an interview by a general authority to ascertain his repentance and readiness.
