Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

In our office we have a calendar that gives lesser known facts about small pieces of trivia. We have had a disagreement in regards to a recent fact. The calendar states that Minnesota, with so many lakes, has the longest shoreline of any of the states in the union, including Alaska. We have already established that Alaska has the longest COASTLINE, but we are unsure in regards to SHORELINE. We look forward to your response.

Mike

A: Dear Mike,

Your calendar is correct, not only does the amount of shoreline in Minnesota exceed the amount of coastline of Alaska, it doubles it. Here are some numbers I pulled up.

Minnesota shoreline: aprox. 90,000 miles
Alaska coastline: aprox. 47,300 miles
