Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,
I know that rainbows have been associated with gays for a few years now. Does that mean that as a straight person I can't be fascinated by them? No wait, my real question is what causes a double rainbow. My confusion comes from the invisible area. What causes the light to shift back into the visible colors?

A: Dear greenspam,

Double rainbows, like single rainbows, are caused by the refraction of light through water particles. When the particles are a certain size, the light can bounce around inside the water and refract out at a slightly different angle.
