Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

If I ate a pound of butter, would I gain more than a pound in weight? What if I ate a pound of carrots? Is a pound not a pound then?

- Number 1

A: Dear Number 1,

If you ate a pound of butter, you would gain a pound. If you ate a pound of carrots, you would gain a pound. However, your body would process (and eliminate) the nutrients in a pound of carrots more quickly than it would process the "nutrients" in a pound of butter.

So, you wouldn't gain more than a pound from eatiing a pound of butter, but you might retain more of that pound than if you ate a pound of carrots.
