Dear 100 Hour Board, or rather, Ithryn Luin,

Where did you come up with your name? It sounds really cool, like from a mystical faraway land with magical ponds and monster-infested caves and such. Are you by any chance an elf?

-The Fantasy Novel Buff, also known as Ilva Ayroth

A: Dear Buffy/Ilva,

No, not an elf, although I believe it is Elvish. In Lord of the Rings, there are five wizards who come across to Middle-Earth. Gandalf the Grey and Saruman the White were the two important ones. But there were also two Blue Wizards who came and journeyed off into other areas and didn't factor into the story. They were known as "Ithryn Luin," which I assume is Elvish for Blue Wizard.

So yes, it's a nice name, but I can't claim credit for Tolkien's idea.
