Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

What is the best way to clean couch upholstry? I'm moving into an apartment where the couch is kind of dingy looking. I've washed all the pillow and couch cushions, but I can't figure out how to clean the arms and top.

Sorry if this has been asked before - I couldn't find it in the archives.

A: Dear Scarlet,

Ah, dingy-looking couches, the mark of a well-loved apartment.

One way to clean upholstery is to combine equal parts of liquid detergent and water, scrub the fabric with it, and then rinse (see here; for clearer instructions see here).
