Whenever he thought about it, he felt terrible. And so, at last, he came to a fateful decision. He decided not to think about it. ~John-Roger and Peter McWilliams

Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

This is regarding Board Question #1905.

The Church, according to its current website, has no official position on when life begins. The only time a prophet has ever spoken on the matter (to my knowledge), he (Joseph Fielding Smith, quoting Brigham Young) stated that the spirit enters the unborn child when the woman feels it stirring within her (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol.2, p.280). It is NOT at conception; were it so, stem-cell research, cloning, and identical or siamese twins would represent major theological problems on a biological level.

Sincerely,
- Not a Doctor, Scientist, or Apostle
