Question #30397 posted on 11/14/2006 3:01 a.m.
Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

Why do airplanes sometimes leave a white streak in the sky. (and sometimes not) (My four year old keeps asking me and I am just guessing on my answer.)

Thanks,
Erin

A: My Dearest Mother Erin,

Just like four year old children, readers ask the same question over and over again. The white streaks are called contrails. This question was answered in Board Question #1855 and Board Question #25539 (which I answered).
