Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

I've been looking for an MP3 copy of Elder McConkie's "Purifying Power of Gethsemane" talk from April 1985. The only copy I've been able to find sounds like someone was recording it from 2 feet in front of a tape recorder borrowed from the ward library (not the new ones either, the old grey ones that were slightly smaller than a 1980's VHS player). Do you know where I could find a good copy? It is one of the most powerful talks I've ever heard/read.

A: Dear Fan,

I fell in love with that talk when I saw it in the MTC. It was pretty amazing, then and now. I wish I could find a video of it somewhere, but I suspect that only the MTC and similar places have it. Oh well.

With that said, I had heard there was an MP3 of it out there, so after my mission I started looking for it. Lo and behold, I found an LDS-oriented web site that had it available for download—they were freely distributing it! So I downloaded it. It's good quality too, not like the one you mentioned.

If you (or anyone else) want a copy, just send me an e-mail at theboardlaserjock gmail com; put in the @ and . yourself. I'll be glad to e-mail it to you. I really enjoy that talk; I should probably listen to it again sometime soon.
