Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

Is the Jazz Studies program here any good? I mean for vocalists, especially - I'm fairly certain the instrumental jazz around here rocks.

A: Dear Not Quite Ella,
The BYU Music Department does have a Vocal Jazz studies program. It's just called "Jazz Studies" and it includes instruments, vocal, and composition. The classes you would be taking are very mainstream music classes. You'd basically be taking the same classes as other music majors. You'd just be in Jazz ensembles instead, and taking voice lessons from one of the many vocalist professors. Check out the Major Academic Plan for the major:

Basically, the vocal program is the same as the instrumental program, so they are equal in rockingness.
