Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

what do you think of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet?

- Crohns

A: Dear Crohns,

I think it sounds hard and expensive. I think it's funny that the website claims it consists of the foods early man ate before agriculture began, and therefore is somehow healthier than eating any food developed in the last 10,000 years. I don't think the diet is for everyone but is potentially very helpful in reducing the symptoms of someone like yourself with Chrohns or similar condition. It's worth pointing out that The Chrohn's and Colitis Foundation doesn't support the diet and there haven't ever been studies done about it's effects. I've seen how miserable Chrohn's can be and if you're really struggling with it the diet may be worth a try, as long as you get approval from your doctor first.
