Whenever he thought about it, he felt terrible. And so, at last, he came to a fateful decision. He decided not to think about it. ~John-Roger and Peter McWilliams

Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

Hi I have a question about serving a mission. I'm a currently at BYU hoping to serve a mission. I've struggled with same sex attraction. Back in October of 2009 I kissed another boy twice....I felt I needed to confess to the bishop because I felt terrible and so I did. I'm extremely sorry for what I did and I've repented. My main question is whether this will make me wait for a mission? I turn 19 in the spring and I want to start my papers in March.

A: Dear Anonymous,

I think the best person to consult about this would be your bishop. He's entitled to revelation about your situation, while we are not. At best we could offer guesses and anecdotes. Remember, too, that he'll be involved with your mission papers anyway, which gives you a built-in reason to discuss your concern with him. I applaud you for talking with him already, and encourage you to approach him again.
