Dear 100 Hour Board,

Why do declawed cats still try to scratch boxes/posts/furniture? Does it feel good or do they think they still have claws?

Dear Pat,

There's no verified information available about it, but I'd assume it's the cat version of a phantom limb sensation.

However, according to a few cat-lover forums, apparently the act of scratching is just a reflex that makes them feel good, so even declawed cats deserve a scratching post.
