Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

Why is the flag out by the ASB at half-staff today(Friday, Jan 18th)?

-Tommy

A:

Dear Tommy,

I couldn't get any official word from BYU, but according to Daily Flag Status, Massachusetts Governor Patrick has ordered the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag to be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Friday, January 18, 2013 in honor of Pfc. Antonio Syrakos of Lynn who died on January 10, 2013, so it's possible that was the reason.

If anyone wants to contradict me, feel free to comment.

According to the Daily Universe, it was due to the passing of BYU faculty member, Linda White.
