Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

If cats were humans, what race would calicoes be?

-Sump

A:

Dear Sump,

Well, calico cats are called chattes d'Espagne (Spanish cats) in Québec, so that's one option. They have also been refered to as "clouded tiger," so South Asian could be another possibility.

However, genetically, calico cats are the result of a mutated gene, and cannot be bred reliably. This seems to suggest they aren't exactly a "race." By this standard, a variety of human genes could have parallels to calico cats, such as people with freckles or vitiligo.
