Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

How did black cats come to have such a bad rep? I know they're associated with witches and are considered back luck and all that nonsense, but what caused all of this? Would you please give me a history on why black cats have this absurd status?

A:

Dear Nine,

Once upon a time, lonely old ladies fed cats. And then the English people decided witches were real. Since those lonely old ladies were suspected of being witches, the cats they fed became their minions (according to the people of the Middle Ages).

Basically, once someone said that black cats were bad, it just spiraled from there. Poor things.
