Dear 100 Hour Board,
Who invented the back pack? When did they stop using belts to carry their books to school?

A: Dear I'ma call you Josh,

People have been putting stuff on their backs in various forms of wrapping since time began, but the fabrication and usage of the first pack with dual shoulder straps (basically the backpack as we know it today) is attributed to Greg Keity in the year 1933.
As to the method of carrying books to school, it was more of a gradual transition, as these things tend to be. With the invention of the modern backpack, carrying books around in the traditional (undoubtedly cumbersome) way was outmoded. It was only a matter of time.
