Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

I need to come up with a fatwa question (relating to women) and answer for a research paper (Islam class), and I have to write it to appeal to a conservative audience. Do you have any ideas for a good fatwa topic?

I don't want to do the overly done ones: such as women driving in Saudi Arabia, the burka, hijab, education, inheritance... Possibly ones relted to burial rituals/rites? I want a more unique one. So do you have any ideas/leads?

Am I right, yayfulness?

A:

Dear canth,

As right as you can be if it's non-gender-specific.

Seriously, though, we have some sources you might be interested in if you want to know more about the subject.

As far as other subjects go, I think you could find some fertile ground exploring rules for polygamy or perhaps contraception. I'm not an expert on Islam, but I do know that there are limits, both objective and subjective, on the conditions and extent to which polygamy is permitted. They could probably stand to receive additional clarification.
