Dear 100 Hour Board,
Why did the Ensign stop publishing poetry? That was the best part of the whole magazine! They used to publish it fairly regularly, but I haven't seen it in there for a couple of years.

A: Dear Poetry Reader,
I am sorry that I took so long to reply; it took a while to find the right people to contact, to avoid giving you an answer off the top of my head (even though it turns out that I was right). According to the nice lady at the Ensign Editing Department, the regular inclusion of poetry was abandoned when the entire format of the Ensign was changed to reach a "wider audience." She also mentioned that poetry is still included in the Ensign sometimes, it is simply screened much more thoroughly, and for a wider audience than the Ensign previously targeted. So keep your eyes peeled for the occasional piece of poetry; it's there, just not as often.
