Dear 100 Hour Board,

But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Dear Cinderella,

Would I know?

Dear Them,

First, come up with your personal utility function. Then you can use math to optimize your happiness under your budget constraint while choosing which bundles to consume. If you want to compare two different bundles, merely plug them into your indirect utility function.

Isn't economics great?

Dear Pippin,

To bring another musical into the mix, this reminds me of probably my favorite part in the Musical Wicked, when Glinda is contemplating her life. She sings:

"Cause getting your dreams
It's strange, but it seems
A little - well - complicated
There's a kind of a sort of a cost
There's a couple of things get: lost
There are bridges you cross
You didn't know you crossed
Until you've crossed
And if that joy, that thrill
Doesn't thrill you like you think it will
Still -
With this perfect finale
The cheers and ballyhoo
Who wouldn't be happier?
So I couldn't be happier
Because happy is what happens
When all your dreams come true
Well, isn't it?
Happy is what happens
When your dreams come true!"

I tend to think that if you convince yourself that you're happy because of something, chances are you aren't. And sometimes that's hard and sometimes that's scary, but when it comes down to it, would you rather live a safe lie or an uncomfortable truth?

Dear PGM,

Right now all I want is to go to bed and I am pretty darn sure that I am going to like it when I get the chance.
