Dear 100 Hour Board,
What can we do to cheer up M.O.D.A.Q.?
Dear Dāsu ~
Find him a wife?

Dude, depression isn't that simple.
I am happy (pun intended) to take any and all suggestions but I wouldn't get your hopes up about getting my hopes up since I've spent most of my life trying to answer that question. (Also I'm curious as to what specifically prompted this question because I don't feel like I was particularly cheery before I retired as a board writer.)
I was first diagnosed with depression on my mission. The psychiatrist I met with called my specific condition double depression which to describe I will quote WebMD: "for people with non-chronic major depression alone, their usual "baseline" mood is normal. But people with double depression may have never known what a normal, non depressed mood is." Diagnosis was a huge turning point for me because it was the first time I admitted to myself that there was a serious problem and that I should do something about it. Exactly how long I've been depressed is an interesting question. After my mission I found a school notebook from third grade. On one day the prompt was "If you could be anyone who would you be and why?" and I wrote "I would be anyone besides me because I hate my life." There's almost a hint of humor behind it but I'm honestly mad that no one picked up on the warning signs earlier.
I was going to write more about my illness but this doesn't feel like the time. Instead, I encourage you to watch You're the Worst. It's an amazing show that cheers me up (and usually also depresses me a little bit more). Towards the beginning of season 3 episode 6 and about 2/3 of the way through season 3 episode 12 Gretchen says some things I want to quote because they are two of my favorite lines in the history of the written word, but I can't because they have some certain words in them.
Get Season 2 of Jessica Jones made, obviously.
Don't treat him like a project that needs to be fixed. He probably treats himself like that enough already.
