Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

My husband and I don't really share tastes in music. We both really like the Beatles, beach boys, and other generally-liked classics, and we can reminisce and laugh about 90s music from our jr. high school days. We got married 6 years ago and neither of us have really broadened our music libraries since then. We rarely listen to music together, since we're not crazy about each others' music, but we're Geri g up for a road trip me we both just want music. We've done idiots books d podcasts in the past but we want more variety. I'm thinking there's gotta be some new stuff from the last 5 or so years that would appeal to both of us. Can anyone recommend bands or songs that they think would fit the bill?

I like, but he doesn't really:
Travis
Belle & Sebastian
Keane
Regina Spektor

He likes, but I don't really:
Dave Matthews
Jack Johnson
...sorry, I don't really know what else! Haha. He LOVES dmb though, so it should count for like 4.

-Thanks!

Dear friend,

First band that came to mind is A Great Big World. They kinda remind me of if Keane and Jack Johnson had a band baby and Regina Spektor wrote their lyrics or something, I don't know where I'm going with this but they seem like they could be a good middle ground. You might recognize them from the two hits they had a few years ago (Say Something and Hold Each Other), but that's just the tip of the wonderful music iceberg, if you will.

Here are a few choice songs by them that sound like a good mix between the two:
Oh, also Mat Kearney. Kind of reminds me of Jack Johnson especially and maybe a bit of Dave Matthews but has some pretty dreamy, Spektor-ish lyrics. He was pretty popular around five-ish years ago but he's still releasing pretty good music.
