Dear 100 Hour Board,
What is church like in the Singles Ward at BYU on the first Sunday? (As a Freshman)
Since everyone is new in the ward, nobody has a calling. I know there will be Bishop there probably talking to us for the first hour of church and I'm assuming some boys will step up to minister the sacrament. But what about the 2nd and 3rd hour? Usually those are taught by teachers but we have no teachers. Will this time be used to assign people callings? If not, when do people normally find out their callings?
Also, sorry for my many questions, how do you know what ward you are in? Does it work by floors in your dorm? I know that church is held in many different buildings around campus. Do all the wards have the same meeting time?
Also how are people acting? Nervous and nobody is taking to anyone else? Is everyone flirting with everyone?
-I Know I'll See It When It Happens But I'm Just Curious
How and when callings are extended all depend on your ward. I have been in wards that have run things in totally different ways. If no callings have been given yet, it's likely that Sunday School and Relief Society/Priesthood will be taken care of by the bishopric and assigned high councillor and their wives.
Someone will notify you as to what ward you are in. Often there will be a notice on your door letting you know where and when to go. It is likely that you will be in the same ward as the other people on your floor. And all wards do not have the same meeting time.
And people act in all sorts of different ways. My experience in new wards is that people talk a lot to other people because everyone is trying to make friends. Maybe a few people don't talk and others flirt a lot but I have not noticed that.
