Dear Titans of Mental Industry,

Are any of you Fire Emblem fans? What is your favorite game in the series, and who are your favorite characters? I realize question #69638 is similar, but I'm interested to hear thoughts from the newest generation of writers. For my money, Path of Radiance can't be beat - I never get tired of hearing Kieran's nonsense.

Dear Maybe Just A Line,

I've never played any Fire Emblem games; I just play Lucina in Smash 4. For some reason, I find all of the other Fire Emblem characters to be incredibly annoying in that game (with the possible exception of Corrin; I've never played as him/her, nor have I ever played against someone fighting as Corrin), with the exception of Lucina. It doesn't make a ton of sense, since she's basically just Marth without the extra damage on her sword tip, but something about the way she moves around and fights just feels slightly different.

Dear you,

My first Fire Emblem was Fire Emblem Awakening for the 3DS. That was a fantastic experience. I loved the strategy, the polished mechanics, and the little romances you can pair the characters into. Anna is by far my favorite character. I had her fall in love with the main character. They got married and had a beautiful, red-headed daughter named Morgan who was excellent at picking locks. I also think Lucina is pretty awesome. I'm inspired by her grace, her swordsmanship, and the way she's willing to wear the burden of the world completely on her own even when she doesn't have to. She came from a ruined future and took things into her own hands to fix it.

I played Fire Emblem Fates as well, but never quite finished the game. It was good, but I didn't get into it as much.

I also played the first few minutes of Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, and if we're talking about characters, I have to mention Jeigan. In addition to having one of the coolest names ever, the way he casually wields his spear atop his horse is really fun to watch.

Well, and if we count Super Smash Bros., I used to play as Ike a lot. All I know about him as a character is that every time you do an up special, he yells, "Pizza!" or something to that effect, so that's pretty cool.

I just got a Nintendo Switch, and I'm really hoping for a core Fire Emblem game on the console someday. Fire Emblem Warriors should be fun, but I'm not sure about how the crossover will work.
