Dear 100 Hour Board,

When I was younger I was a temple worker. When the temple President found out (18 months later) that I was over 30, male and never married, I was released. He cited a rule from Salt Lake.

Is that really a rule, that never married males over 30 can't work in the temple?

Dear you,

Yeah, actually it is. One of the requirements to be considered for a calling as an ordinance worker is, "If male and 30 years old or older, be married (widowers excepted)." I won't pretend to know why that's a requirement, but it is.
