Dear 100 Hour Board,

What does it mean when your light is turned on at your study table in the periodicals? A few people have told me that it means you are single. Also, if that is correct, where did this tradition come from?

not desperate, just curious

Dear desperation curiosity,

That's just one part of it. You need to flip the light on and off in particular sequences. Different "studying" poses coupled with the different sequences all convey wealths of information. Why, I've known couples to get engaged without even having to say a single word to each other (apparently it did add some complications to the wedding planning, but it all worked out in the end).

Unfortunately, I don't have time at the moment to detail all the sequences, but I've heard knowing Morse code helps.

Dear Curious,

All I'm going to say is that I have, on occasion, studied in the periodicals, and probably at some point or another turned my table light on, and now I'm married. So I'd say that's a pretty clear correlation. And as we all know, correlation equals causation.
