Dear 100 Hour Board,

Where did "Houston Strong" come from? I live in the Houston area (not flooded, thankfully) and the phrase is everywhere after the Harvey floods. Was this a thing before the floods?

Dear Houston,

I'm pretty sure it came as a reaction to the floods. I tried looking it up, and every mention I saw of "Houston Strong" occurred after Hurricane Harvey. And the fact that you're from Houston and had never heard people talking about Houston Strong before serves to reiterate that point. People do this sort of thing all the time, I think ever since "Livestrong," because it implies that a certain person or group is resilient and strong enough to beat the trials currently facing them.
