Q:

Dear My Peeps,

While being bored at my TA job, I came across Board Question #962. I tried the link to see a picture of Hope but was sad to find that the link doesn't work anymore. Is Hope alive? Is there a picture still?

A:

Dear Ducky,

One cool thing about being in the CS program at BYU is that you get your own little space on the servers at BYU with a folder that is publicly accessible. Some classes require you to put html files on there or some website info while others say you can use that or your own server.

It looks like that link was to a file on a student's personal CS account. Their account is probably gone since that writer is long graduated. I tried to find out what happens to old cs accounts when someone graduates but I wasn't able to get specific info. I've been graduated almost a year and my account is still active and I can access my public stuff so it's possible the CS department has a retention policy of 1 year, 5 years, 10 years and then deletes the account or it's possible the student who owned that account just removed the picture from the public folder. Either way, I don't think that picture exists anymore. Sorry.
