Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

Is there a rental decor service in Utah that rents like vintage suitcases?? For our engagement photos, we are going for a retro/vintage travel theme. Any suggestions?

We were inspired by these pinterest images: darling suitcase, cute kissing suitcase couple, pile of suitcases, vintage pose, etc.

Also, where would be a good place to get our engagement shoots done (Northern Utah area)? We wanted to go for a train like scene. But, we are open to other travel vintage locations. THESE ARE OUR FAVORITE VINTAGE engagmenet photos so far: trains and bags, kiss on the train, catch that train!, travel vintage in style, more train kissing, travel greeting, silly train, train farewell, classic train romance, etc. Where can we take photos on a old train?

Oh, and they'll be taken during Christmas time.... so lots of snow.

Bon Voyage!

Dear Penelope,

There's the Heber Valley Railroad. They have lots of trains that they still use, and although I don't know if they allow people to do photoshoots with their trains, I'm sure you can call and ask. Their number is 435-654-5601.

The Ogden Union Station also seems to have some good places for old-time-y vintage photos, and apparently they do weddings there, so they might be amenable to letting you take engagement photos. Their phone number is on the website I linked to under "Contact Us," so you can call and ask them with all the pertinent details.

And if you just want a train station, the Union Pacific Station in downtown Salt Lake is pretty cool. They often host public events there, but according to their calendar for this month, it looks like they have several spaces still open. If you contact Sheridan Gray at 801-456-2803, or at info@intheevent.com, you can get more information about reserving it for engagement photos.

Finally, Anne, Certainly said that she and her family took pictures in Vivian Park, which has train tracks running right across it, and very easy access. If you're looking for somewhere you can take pictures for free, this is probably your best bet.

Good luck with everything! Planning a wedding is stressful, but you can do it!

Hi Penelope!

My wife and I did an anniversary photo shoot at Ogden Union Station; most of the site is open to the public and we did not call in advance, but calling certainly wouldn't hurt. If you'd like a sampling of our photos to get a feel for the location, shoot me an email at yayfulness@theboard.byu.edu and I'll get them to you.

Congratulations on your engagement and best of luck with wedding planning!

Regarding the other part of the question about renting vintage suitcases. Some cute ones can be rented from https://www.refinedvintageevents.com/large-details for $20 each.
