Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

So, I've been browsing through the off campus housing listings, and I must say that their search page could be a whole lot better. I thought that perhaps you could help me. I need somewhere that is less than $220 per month, has free internet, and is very close to campus as I don't have a car and I have some health problems that make it hard for me to walk really far. I would prefer not to have more than 2 people per bedroom. If they allowed fish (as pets) that would be a nice added bonus.

Do you guys/gals know of someplace like that? I am looking for Fall 2005

A: Dear Potentially Homeless-

You are asking the impossible. Since price and location have an inverse relationship, I am very hesitant to recommend any location within walking distance that would be priced that low. Go to http://www.rideuta.com/schedulesAndMaps/routeSchedules/?routeGroupID=6 and look at the bus routes that go to campus regularly, which are 812, 820, 822, 830, 831, 832, and 833. I would recommend ones that go 2x/hour. Find a house/apartment that is right on one of the routes. I did that, and it worked out very well for me. Another potential problem that solves is that most of the housing near campus is downhill to the south. If walking long distances is no good, I'm betting that going up the hillside on the south side of campus ain't great, either. Taking the bus would drop you off at the WSC, which is at about the same elevation as most of campus. Additionally, bus passes can be picked up without cost to students at the Information Desk in the WSC.

A: Dear Potentially Homeless,

Now that I'm on my way to being a PHP/SQL expert, every time I look at their website, I am overcome with desire to redesign it for them. So I know what you mean by their lousy search.
