Oh, there he goes off to his room to write that hit song "Alone in my principles."

Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

My boyfriend is really into puzzles and Rubik's Cubes. For Valentine's Day I'm giving him a Rubik's Cube-themed gift basket. To go along with his gift, I'd also like to give him a Rubik's Cube V-Day card. I'm going to make it and I'm needing help on coming up with some clever phrases/puns. I've googled Rubik's Cube Valentine's Day cards, and came up with some ideas, but I'm looking for more. Got anything fun up your sleeve?

A:

Dear Arandur,

DO I?!?!?!?!?!?!

I mean, I just got all sorts of excited because you asked a question about Rubik's Cubes and, you know, half of my 'nym is Rubik.

I'm a bit late with these (sorry; it's my last semester and things are a weeeeeee bit crazy), but hopefully not too late! Here we go:

-There are 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 ways to say "I love you!" (That's how many possible configurations of the Rubik's Cube there are.)

-I fell for you in less than 4.59 seconds (That's the current world record, as far as I can tell.)

-You solved my heart in less than 20 moves (Twenty is the so-called "God Number;" any scrambled cube can be solved in 20 or fewer moves.)

-You make me feel less scrambled.

-You're not a square, but I think you're one amazing Cube (Apparently there was an old TV show called Rubik, the Amazing Cube.)

-Let's start a Revolution together (Kind of a dud. I did get a Rubik's Revolution for my birthday once, though.)

-Without You, I feel like I'm lost in a Puzzle World (It's not that great but I just wanted to mention Rubik's Puzzle World because YES I DID OWN THAT ON THE NINTENDO WII AND LOGGED A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF HOURS ON IT.)

-You make things Magic (The puzzle was originally called the "Magic Cube." It's a bit of a stretch. Maybe take a break, Frère)

-If you were blue I'd never be green, if Ernő what I mean. (Blue and Green are always opposite each other on today's standard cube, and Ernő Rubik is the inventor of the Rubik's Cube, and—okay, Frère, why don't you lay off the Rubik's Cube puns for a bit and just—)

-It may not be the 80's anymore but I am crazy about you. (Okay, stop it, Frère, stop it right—)

-I wish I were Thistlethwaite or Kociemba so that I could study you all day long. (FRÈRE! THESE AREN'T EVEN MAKING SENSE ANYMORE! JUST GIVE IT A REST AND WE'LL—)

-Will you be my Triamid? (THAT'S IT—)

Okay, well, that happened.

Sorry most of those were stinkers, but maybe they can at least give you some ideas!
