Dear 100 Hour Board,
I don't like my apartment complex for a lot of reasons, but one reason in particular is that last semester they charged me for a half of month of utilities at the beginning of the semester, and then not again until the end of the semester when I got hit with a bill for 3 months of utilities at once. I freaked out because I didn't realize what was going on, but when I asked about it, they said Provo City forgot to bill certain complexes for a few months and that's why I didn't get the bill until later. I've tried to ask neighbors if the same thing happened to them, but they all apparently didn't pay enough attention to the bill to know.
Now it's almost April and I've only received a utility bill for a few days in December. I sent in a complaint and they said they're on the Provo City billing schedule and my charges are up to date.
I really don't want to get another $100+ utility bill at the end of this semester. I honestly don't know enough to contest this, but it doesn't seem right? Shouldn't I get January's utility bill before April? The management doesn't have the best reputation for being 100% honest, and I just don't want to get screwed over.
Have any of you gone through anything similar? Do you have any tips?

I feel your pain. That sounds pretty awful and inconvenient. I personally don't have any personal experience with getting ripped off on utilities. Actually, I was just talking with my roommates, and one roommate has been paying the utilities every month and hasn't asked for any money. We didn't have an agreement or anything, his just been doing it and I didn't know, so I need to go talk to him so I can pay him for all those months...
Personally I would plan on paying $100+ and be pleasantly surprised if you don't. If you feel like you are being treated unfairly then I would recommend contacting the off-campus housing office to get things straightened out. Good luck and I hope this helps!
