Q:

Dear 10000 Hour Board,

What happens when a BYU football game on a Saturday evening runs past midnight (thereby making it Sunday)? Do they forfeit and stop playing, or do they just finish the game?

A:

Dear Brother Borg,

When BYU has a late game on Saturday evening and it runs pasts midnight they just finish the game. Perhaps they end up suffering the consequences however. In 2014 during the homecoming game BYU was ahead with just a few minutes, but fumbled the ball right as the clock hit midnight and lost the game. Coincidence? We may never know.

Peace,

Tipperary

A similar event happened in the Utah-BYU game in 2012. Utah was winning 24-21. BYU kicked a field goal a few minutes past midnight. Making it would send the game into overtime, but the ball hit the goalpost and bounced out causing BYU to lose. This is definitely a real thing.
