Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

I have a great roommate, we've been friends for years. However, I have relatively recently noticed that sometimes he smells a little... umm... funky. It's not awful, and I only notice if I'm really close to him or give him a hug, but it is certainly a very distinct smell. I would normally just assume it was a hygiene issue, but my roommate is clean and hygienic. He showers. He brushes his teeth. All the good things.

Why is this? Do some people just have more smell than others? And perhaps more importantly, is this something I should bring up with him? Since he's being hygienic it feels weird to say "well tough luck it's just not working I guess." But also if I had an odd smell I'd probably want to know about it...

Anyways, that's the question. Thanks!

Dear Floral,

Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I probably wouldn't say anything. But that has a lot to do with the fact that I really dislike bringing up uncomfortable topics, and so will try anything to avoid them.

I guess if you still want to mention something on this line to your roommate, try and be tactful. Though I personally can't think of any tactful way to tell him he smells weird.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
