It is difficult to make a man miserable while he feels he is worthy of himself and claims kindred to the great God who has made him. ~Abraham Lincoln

Dear 100 Hour Board,

I recently upgraded my phone from an iPhone 6s to a 7. I like it except that the sound of the vibration is very quiet. With my old phone I could have my phone charging nearby and would hear if I got a text or call. Now I can't hear the vibration even if my phone is sitting inches away from me on my desk unless there is dead silence in the room (no heat or A/C on or food cooking on the stove, etc). I've tried going through all the different vibration options and none of them are any louder. I don't want to turn my phone to ring because it isn't 2005, but I'm becoming very unreliable to my friends and family. What do I do?

Dear you,

I would suggest contacting someone in an Apple IT department. If you just walk into an Apple store, and ask one of the employees how to get the vibration louder, I'm sure they will be able to help you (or at least verify that there is no way to change the vibration volume). Furthermore, I am 95% confident you wouldn't be charged anything for such a consultation.

Dear Same,

Or, you know, you could get over your distaste of actually turning the sound on and just turn the sound on. I get it, it's not 2005, everybody who's anybody has had their phone on silent for at least the past 8 years, but if you can't hear your phone vibrate and still want to respond to calls or texts as they come in, you might just have to turn on your sound. It's not going to kill you, nobody is going to judge you as long as you don't have some weirdo ringtone, and it will mean that you can hear when someone calls or texts you. I don't get why you're so averse to hearing a somewhat pleasant ringtone, but totally fine with hearing the obnoxious buzzing of an iPhone about to vibrate itself off a countertop. It seems like such an arbitrary distinction to say, "I don't want to hear my phone. Unless it's the vibration, which I desperately want to hear."

Dear glue stick snack surprise,

Put it on something noisy, like a plate with some coins on it, or your roommate, Angsty Steve, who will screech any time he perceives you are stealing the validation he so obviously deserves.
