Everyone can be discontented if he ignores his blessings and looks only at his burdens. ~Thomas S. Monson

dear board,

With the change in the temple recommend questions, are they getting rid of the blurb about garments that they make you read before the interview starts? I hope so, as I find that blurb to be unfounded doctrinally, and culturally strange (no removal for gardening)

Dear Thanks,

As far as I can tell from the news release (source), that is not part of the interview. If any readers know otherwise feel free to leave a correction.

In the materials sent to priesthood leaders, it includes a revised version of the letter regarding the wearing of temple garments. So yes, it is still included as part of the interview. I was serving as a bishop at the time of its last revision and had opportunity to recieve training about it from a member of the Quorum of the Twelve. A major concern was that people were often looking for an excuse to remove their garments rather than looking for reasons to leave them on. I think the currently revised language continues this push by encouraging us to recall the covenants we made in the temple with respect to wearing the garment, while leaving specifics to each person.
