Dear 100 Hour Board,
Any advice to amuse myself while quarantined?
As I've been saying in other answers, my social life isn't really affected by quarantine because I didn't have one to begin with. However, it's still been different to stay in my apartment literally all day. A realization that I recently had is that part of the reason is that I no longer have things that I'm looking forward to.
I had been thinking on planning a trip to Europe for this fall, but that's no longer happening. I used to look forward to small trips to a root beer store or adorable book shop near my apartment. But now... every day is kind of the same. There isn't anything in the future that I'm waiting for with excited anticipation.
So perhaps a good way to relieve the monotony of quarantine would be to plan special activities. Pick a night or weekend or whatever, and plan something special for it. Maybe it will be cooking a specific dish, or streaming a movie at the same time as a friend, or something else. I just believe we all need to have something fun planned to keep ourselves sane.
Go on walks! As long as you stay 6 feet apart from everyone you encounter, this is a great way to get out of the house for a change of scenery and get some of your nervous energy out. Plus you probably won't be touching anything, so chances of transmitting/receiving the virus are very low.
