Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

I've tried looking, but my Google skills have failed me. Where are Believe Beauty products (the Dollar General brand) manufactured? Bonus question, how did you find out (so I know how to find it next time)?

Thank you!

A:

Dear You,

I googled the question, "Where is Believe Beauty manufactured?" The first link told me that they are developed by Maesa. I go to Maesa's website and find they have multiple locations: Los Angeles, New York, Paris, London, Vienna, Dubai, Hong Kong, and Dongguan.

I google "Where are Maesa's products manufactured?" and I click on a crap ton of links before I found this one from 2015. Not entirely up to date, but it states that one of the makeup companies (P2 Cosmetics) that they just bought are made in Germany and France. This isn't Believe Beauty, so I continue on. I found out that Maesa is a private label company, which is probably why I struggled so much in trying to figure out where they were made. I even tried to contact Maesa and Believe Beauty online and they never got back to me.

The fact that they aren't forthcoming with where they are made and the fact that the products are so cheap, I think it's more than likely that they're made in China. Since if they were made in the United States, most brands are proud to tell the consumers that kind of information.

They got back to me on Instagram!

"Hi there! Thank you for reaching out. We work with several manufacturers to create our products. However, you can check the label on each of our products for its country of origin."
