Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

When cell phones are set to "vibrate" what is it that makes them vibrate?

Strongly Curious

A: Dear Strongly Curious,
Whatever is in my phone keeps malfunctioning every time I drop it. The vibrator sounds like it's beating on the side of a tin can or something.

A: Dear Strongly Curious,

A small weight inside the phone makes the phone to vibrate. Usually it is a weighted wheel that spins. The inertia causes the entire phone to vibrate slightly.

That is the way most things vibrate.

That is all.
