Dear 100 Hour Board,

On the game cranium it says that you can live longer without food than sleep. I want to know 1. is it true? If so, 2. who did this study? and 3. how was this study done?
Whether true or not, has anyone ever died from lack of sleep?

A: Dear JB,
1. Yes it's true. Here's a list of how long it takes each of the following species to die from a lack of sleep;
Puppy Dog 96 hrs.
Human 264 hrs.
Rhinoceros 153 hrs.
Sheep 340 hrs
Army Ant 24 hrs.

264 hours translates to 11 full days. Humans have been known to survive longer than that without food (naturally they need to have water).

2. The Nazis did it; and yes, people did die.
3. Sadly, it's pretty self-explanatory.
Sweet dreams!
