Whenever he thought about it, he felt terrible. And so, at last, he came to a fateful decision. He decided not to think about it. ~John-Roger and Peter McWilliams

Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

Why is it so important that I know where everything is made?

-Made in USA

A: Dear Made in the USA -

Manufacturers put tags like that on products so you know that you are doing your patriotic duty by purchasing it. You're supporting your country by refusing to purchase goods made anywhere but here (even if other countries have a comparative advantage in creating those goods). Forget everyone else. You're doing the right thing by only buying American. You're protecting American jobs.

I hope from my tone that you've been able to pick up on my anti-isolationist sentiments (whether they be political or economic). You didn't ask to hear them. I won't share them here. Ask me again if you want to hear why it's okay (and probably even a good idea) to buy foreign.

- Optimistic.
