Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

After much fruitless googling, I have been unable to find pretty photos of temples that will fit my iMac display (1440x900) to use as wallpaper without stretching or otherwise distorting the picture.

Can you find some such photos, or - lacking that - can you tell me the best way to take a photo size like 1024x768 and adjust it to fit a 1440x900 display and still look nice?

- Michael

A: Dear Michael,

In your desktop and screensaver settings, change the settings to "fill screen." It sounds like it's on "stretch to fill screen."

A: Dear,

I often don't resize the picture at all. Either in the desktop settings or in paint, I give it a black border, so my desktop is plain and bare except for the picture in the middle. Not elegant, perhaps, but effective and unobtrusive.
