Whenever he thought about it, he felt terrible. And so, at last, he came to a fateful decision. He decided not to think about it. ~John-Roger and Peter McWilliams

Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

I need a bra. Not a dinky bra that doesn't do anything, making me look like a saggy granny. I'm a very blessed girl, and wear a size 36 D. I've been to Victoria's Secret and been fitted and everything, but nothing I've tried has given me the support that I would like. Help?

A:

Dear Adora Belle,

Try Dillard's. My co-workers rave about the Dillard's.

Dear No,

This article gives specific examples of bras for different figures, as well as some general pointers of what to look for.

If you can make it to Nordstrom, it's great. You'll probably spend a little bit more money (maybe not too much more than Dillard's), but the sales people there are fantastic and knowledgeable in all of my experience.

I can't say the same about my experience at Dillard's (which was nightmarish)

To explain the general process at Nordstrom, you'll probably try on a "fit bra" (unlined, very basic) first to make sure 36D is the right size (the standard measuring techniques don't always give you the exact right size due to asymmetry and other factors).

After that, the sales person should bring you out a variety of bra styles in that size. You should pay attention to the features you like (wide bands are great for support) and others you don't like (do you want more coverage?). Ask for those features in the bras you try on and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Nordstrom has a wide selection across even the most unique sizes so hopefully you can find something to fit you and your needs because no one likes being a saggy granny.

Dear say no,

Lane Bryant is your answer. Your band size is at the lower end of their range, but they definitely carry it, and their bras are designed with larger cup sizes in mind (I don't think they go lower than a C). I'm particularly fond of the Back-smoothing bra and the all-cotton Balconette (the straps don't fall down! Amazing!).
